Treat Acne and Blemishes With Essential Oils

Skin care options are available that are easy, inexpensive and safe to use for those who are looking to try something new or are looking for a natural alternative. Those suffering from acne and blemishes may find relief in essential oils. Essential oils have been utilized for centuries to aid in healing and overall wellness. Many essential oils have properties which are very effective as skin care treatments as well as daily skin care products.

For instance:

1. Spearmint is a widely recognized scent and flavoring however it can also be used to treat blemishes and acne. Simply add three drops of spearmint essential oil to two tablespoons of carrier and apply to affected area.

2. Lavender has increased in popularity in recent years and is often used as fragrance or in adventurous cooking however it can also be used for many skin aliments including acne, rashes, psoriasis and eczema. Lavender essential oil is one of the few that can be safely applied directly to the affected area therefore you just need use a few drops on a cotton ball or pad.

3. Lime essential oil is another option, its astringic properties make it very useful in combating acne and oily skin in general. To use add 3 drops to one ounce of water and apply to skin using a cotton ball or pad.

4. Sandalwood essential oil can be used either by using a mixture with a carrier oil or by applying directly to the affected area. When you are applying directly ensure you are avoiding healthy skin, essential oils are very concentrated so caution needs to be used.

There as several other essential oils that can also be used for treating skin care issues such as acne and blemishes including frankincense, orange, and atlas cedar. Follow the directions for whichever essential oil you decide to use and results will be quickly apparent.
